5 things I learnt through India’s loss in the World Cup Semi-Final

18 July 2019 | By Pastor Vinod Salve

Many across the country lost hope after India crashed out of the 2019 World Cup following the 18-run loss against New Zealand in the semi-final in Manchester.

While India got bowled out for 221 in 49.3 overs; I learnt 5 things through this loss.

1) Defeat does not make you a failure:
A loss or a mistake does not make you a lifetime failure. It is written, You are more than a conqueror not just today but in every circumstances. (Romans 8:37)
You are a champion; no defeat or failure can change that.

2) Celebrate your victory and get back up when you are defeated:
If you feel defeated, know that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. (Philippians 4:13)
A defeat will make you stronger and well prepared for your next win.

3) Do not play the blame game:
When things go wrong, we tend to point fingers at others. It is easy to put the blame on someone else, but difficult to own the mistake. Grace is a beautiful gift we can extend to others instead of blame. The Bible says, Let us not become weary…we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Only Grace will lead the next generation to take your legacy to the next level, just like Jesus extended HIS Grace to Peter.

4) Mistakes are noisier:
Notice when you make mistakes, you will hear more noise than usual. This shows many lives are transforming through you than you can imagine.
Your beginnings will seem humble, but your future will be prosperous. (Job 8:7)

5) You are chosen for a nation:
God has not chosen you to lead a team of 12, but lead the entire nation to victory.
Your later days will be greater than your former (Haggai 2:9)

You have a great potential!

So if you are thinking you are at the end of the rope and there is nothing you can do to make it better.

God is able to do far more than we could ever ask for or imagine. He does everything by his power that is working in you.
