Do not Neglect the Gift in you

The word of God in 1Timothy 4:14 says, do not neglect the gift in you. When some of us read this verse, we question ourselves “Do I Have a Gift?”.
Yes, each one of us have a gift. God has given you a unique gift. 1 Corinthians 7:7
A gift is not limited to singing, playing an instrument, drawing or dancing. Let us look at the different gifts God gives us.
By now, you definitely have recognized at least one gift you already have from the above list.
You give a friend an expensive gift, but you notice instead of using it your friend has just kept it in a corner. Do not keep your gift unused.
3 things God is asking us to do with the gifts:
* Desire for a gift (1 Corinthians 14:1)
* Excel in the gift (1 Corinthians 14:12)
* Stir up your gift (2 Timothy 1:6)
It does not matter how small or big or even the number of gifts you have. Gifts are not given to boost or to keep it for one’s own glory (Romans 12:3). God gives us gifts to use it in His Kingdom and glorify His name.
Our Gift should be used for:
- Edification of the Church
- Serve the people of God
Many people say, “I had a gift of writing/ dancing/ painting etc”, however they think because they have not used it, they no longer have it. The gifts God gives us are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). If God gives you a gift, he will never take it back.
Know that you still have the gift. Stir up your gift and start using it.
