Being Still In Your Storm

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!

For years, this verse has been a word of comfort to me in times of trouble. Surely like me, you might have quoted this verse many times, when your heart was troubled. I have always interpreted this verse as God asking me to be at rest and He taking care of the rest.

Do you agree, it is not very easy in the flesh to be at rest, we constantly think of ways to tackle the situation.

Last week, I visited a Lake known for bird watching. We were in awe of God’s creation and the variety of birds and see animals spotted in that place. Without exaggeration, it felt like we were watching national geographic live. We spent well about an hour at the lake clicking pictures and discussing the uniqueness of each bird.

I noticed in this one hour, there were many birds who had not moved at all. They were sitting still as a rock for their catch. I also realized, there were many other predators waiting to make these small birds their catch for the day. But these little birds did not fear and run away.

It was a sight to see how STILL they were.

Point is, they were not still waiting for God to throw a fish out of a lake directly into their mouth. They were still – not fearing the large predators around them.

Being still and knowing that He is God; means I will not fear or be afraid of the situation (Isaiah 41:13). God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7).

If you have been praying for an impossible situation to change and waiting on God to deliver you out of it, this is for you…

BE STILL – Throw that fear out. Fear does not come from God, fear is a lie in your head put by the devil. Do not be afraid!
KNOW I AM GOD – God is bigger and stronger than anything you are going through. Step forward in faith, God is on your side.
